APA offers a limited number of annual grants coupled with intensive mentorship support for Afghan Photographers working in photography and photo-based art. The grants seek to support Afghan photographers to complete or disseminate their personal projects whose body of work may be purely personal photographic imperatives as well as provide them with a platform for exposure and professional development opportunities.

APA’s Photographer of the Year Award recognizes an Afghan photographer for outstanding work in single photo or photo story throughout an annual photography competition. Any Afghan professional photographer can submit work to this competition and win, among other prizes, a generous cash prize. APA’s Photographer of the Year will be selected based on certain criteria by highly-experienced jury in the field.
