Born in Heratin 1986, Aref Karimi holds a BA in journalism. He is an experienced photojournalist who has worked with various national and international media organizations. He worked as an editor of an FM radio in Herat before joining Agence France Presse (AFP) as a photographer in the West of Afghanistan in January 2010. During the period of his work as a photographer with AFP, he brought to light important and critical news stories to the local and mainstream media as he travelled across the country. Aref’s works has been published in several media and websites around the word including NY Times, Times, AFP and other media publications.
